Our crates originate from a working farm in Lamberhurst, Kent. Used in the 50’s and 60’s to transport fresh produce from farm to market, the wear and tear is visible – providing each one with individual charm.
We have sympathetically cleaned and treated our crates against rot, fungus and insect attack, before finishing with boiled linseed oil to protect and preserve them. The lids have been designed to provide a seat with a sturdy base and dense foam, topped with a softer wading for comfort.
Our range of fabric coverings have been carefully selected to complement the rustic warmth of the aged wood; hand-stitched and finished with fabric protection spray.
Overall they really have been given the ‘five-star treatment’.
These genuine antique storage crates are in limited supply and increasingly difficult to find. We love these little pieces of history from the Garden of England and hope you will too!
